Scott Sharrard was the guitarist and music director of Gregg Allman's band for many years, he was present at the Grand Rex in 2011 for one of his rare appearances in France.

Since Gregg's death, Scott has devoted himself to his solo career that began a few years ago, but was put in brackets during his work with the Allman keyboard player.

Saving Grace was registered in Memphis. The sessions were held in Memphis and also in Fame's Muscle Shoals, Alabama, historic studios, where "Tell The Truth", in particular, co-written with trumpeter Marc Franklin, was recorded.

The band consists of Howard Grimes (drums), Leroy Hodges (bass), Charles Hodges (organ B-3). The wind section is completed by Art Edmaiston, tenor sax, and Kirk Smothers, baritone saxophone. Eric Finland, keyboards, and Moïse Patrou, percussion, complete the band, not to mention the mythical section of Muscle Shoals: David Hood on bass, Chad Gamble on drums, and Spooner Oldham on piano.

The most noticeable title is "Everything A Good Man Needs" co-written by Gregg Allman and Sharrard and sung by Taj Mahal.

Otherwise the rest of the album is quite disparate with good songs like "Tell The Truth" and "High Cost Of Loving You" where the guitarist demonstrates his qualities but also other titles more Memphis Sound, or Stax, much like if our man presented a CV like "listen guys what can I do with a guitar, if something works I go in that direction."

Too bad because Scott is a great guitarist inventive and brilliant slide, hope it remains in a blues optics.
